VCHS Child Development Committee is made up of parents, educators, professionals and healthcare providers.
The mission of this committee is to make a positive difference in the lives of young children in Valley County by educating parents about children’s growth and development, in order to strengthen the family unit as a whole.
Educational topics include:
- Promoting early childhood health
- Reducing child abuse and neglect
- Assuring children arrive at school ready for success

Associate of the Quarter
Leora Sedlacek has been named Associate of the Quarter at Valley County Health System for the 3rd Quarter of the 2014-2015 fiscal year.
In a letter nominating Sedlacek for the honor, a co-worker discussed how she portrays the values of VCHS. “Leora exemplifies integrity by always being professional in her daily duties. She is very compassionate to all of her patients. She always shows ownership for her work and won’t rest until the job is done and done right. She is very respectful to her patients, her co-workers and to the Providers she works alongside. Last but not least, Leora is very trustworthy. She is fair and truthful in all she does. Leora’s work ethics are beyond compare – she is a gem to work with. We are glad she is on our team!”
Sedlacek is an LPN-C in the Medical Clinic and has been with VCHS for 38 years. She began in Acute Care and soon became a Surgical Scrub Nurse and continues to offer her skills in OR on a weekly basis.
