MRI

MRI Services are provided to our patients via a mobile unit - Shared Medical Services - and are available on Wednesdays and Fridays every week.

What is an MRI?

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) provides physicians a method of seeing your internal body structures without using x-rays. This technology enables physicians to detect developing diseases or abnormalities earlier than ever before. Basically, MRI involves a powerful, but harmless, magnetic field and radio waves similar to those that transmit your favorite FM radio music. The combination of radio waves and magnetic field produces very clear images of body structures such as the brain, spine and other vital organs.

Does an MRI Hurt?

Absolutely not. MRI itself is a painless procedure that has virtually no side effects. To date, millions of patients have experienced MRI and the procedure has been proved to be extremely safe. In fact, since MRI uses harmless radio waves and magnetization instead of x-rays, it is considered to be safer than other radiological techniques that do use x-rays.
