Bengston and Breitkreutz Complete Advanced Trauma Life Support Training
Jennifer Bengston, MD and Jeff Breitkreutz, PA-C at Valley County Health System recently attended Advanced Trauma Life Support training. This course focused on the complete assessment of the trauma patient and is required to maintain certification as a Basic Level Trauma Center.
Objectives for the course included demonstration of concepts and principles of primary and secondary patient assessment; establishment of management priorities in a trauma situation; initiation of primary and secondary management necessary within the first hour of emergency care for acute life-threatening emergencies; demonstration of skills used in the initial assessment and management of patients with multiple injuries and preparation of the trauma patient for transfer.
