Garnick & Zangger Appointed to VCHS Board

Gary GarnickThe Valley County Board of Supervisors has appointed Michelle Zangger and Gary Garnick as two additional members of the VCHS Board of Trustees.  Zangger will serve a six-year term and Garnick will serve a four-year term.   Zangger and Garnick join the five current board members Kara Fischer, Carl Streeter, Garry Miska, Dennis Greenland and Eulalia Edwards. They will attend their first board meeting on Wed. May 18th.  Nine Valley County residents applied for the two board positions.  

"We feel Michelle and Gary are very qualified to serve on the Hospital Board of Trustees.  Both will contribute to and compliment the present Board.  We were pleased and grateful that there were nine excellent applicants that were willing to give their time and talents for the betterment of health care in Central Nebraska," stated Bob Sevenker, Chairman of the Valley County Board of Supervisors.

Following graduation from Ord High School in 1966, Gary attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln and graduated from the College of Business Administration with a degree in finance.  He returned to Ord in November of 1971 to begin working for the First National Bank in Ord as an Installment Loan Officer.  He was appointed to the bank board of directors in 1987 and continues to serve as a bank director and Executive Vice President.  Gary and his wife, Pam live in Ord and each have 2 children and a total of 5 grandchildren living in Hastings, Lincoln, and Omaha.

Gary stated, "I have always had a sincere interest in our health care facility and looked at serving on the board as an opportunity to give back to my community.  I hope to draw on my 39 years of finance and banking experience to help make the decisions necessary to see to the continued success of this business."

Michelle ZanggerMichelle grew up in Norfolk, Nebraska.  She received her Bachelor of Arts from Doane College in 2004.  She then went on to earn a Master of Arts: Forensic Psychology in 2007, Master of Arts: Organizational Behavior in 2008, and Doctorate of Philosophy: Forensic Psychology, Clinical Licensure Track in 2009 from the Alliant International University in Fresno, California.  She is currently a Provisionally Licensed Psychologist with the Beatrice State Developmental Center/Bridges Program in Hastings.  She lives with her husband, Luke, on the family farm near North Loup and has enjoyed all the new experiences farm life has to offer.  She is passionate about her job working at the Bridges Program and knowing that she can make a positive impact on the lives of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

When asked why she sought to serve on the VCHS Board of Trustees, Michelle stated "I firmly believe I have the skills, talents and passion necessary to be an asset to the Valley County Health System Board of Trustees.  I value leadership, teamwork, honesty, and ethics, all of which I feel are necessary to create a healthy and productive working environment."

Kara Fischer, Chair of the VCHS Board of Trustees had the following statement about the appointments, "The trustees are pleased to welcome the addition of Michelle Zangger and Gary Garnick to the board.
