Geweke to Begin Practice at VCHS Medical Clinics
Valley County Health System is pleased to announce that Kelly Geweke, APRN-NP will begin her medical practice at the VCHS Medical Clinics in January. Geweke has been employed with VCHS since March of 2002 as a Registered Nurse and Wound, Ostomy & Continence Nurse.
Geweke earned her Master's in Nursing, in the Family Nurse Practitioner Program at Clarkson College in August 2011. She recently passed the certification exam that allows her to get her license. In addition, Kelly has a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the UNMC College of Nursing and is a graduate of Emory University Wound, Ostomy & Continence Program.
A nurse practitioner is a registered nurse who has completed advanced education and training in specialty areas and diagnosis and management of most common disorders. They can diagnose, treat and monitor most illnesses, injuries, infections and chronic diseases. Nurse practitioners can also take medical histories; perform physicals; order, interpret and report lab results, X-rays and EKGs and much more.
Geweke lives in Ord with her husband, Barry and their 3 girls; Kara, Lucy, and Gretchen. Dr. Jennifer Bengston, VCHS Chief of Medical Staff stated, "We're thrilled to welcome Kelly to VCHS in her expanded role as a Nurse Practitioner. All of the medical providers have worked closely with her as Wound, Ostomy & Continence Nurse and look forward to continuing to have her expertise in that area as well. It's always nice to add someone local to our Medical Staff."
Kelly will join the other seven members of the VHCS Medical Staff: Jennifer Bengston, MD; Daniel Schneider, MD; Chris Unterseher, MD; Jeff Breitkreutz, PA-C; David Farrar, PA-C; Bob Reilly, PA-C; and Jane Meyer, APRN-NP.
