Jeffres Attends Infection Prevention Course
Ashley Jeffres, LPN attended the Infection Prevention in Health Care Facilities course in Omaha, NE on Oct. 7 and 8. The conference was provided by the Nebraska Infection Control Network and Clarkson College. Jeffres is the Restorative Care and Infection Control Nurse at Valley View Living Center, Valley County Health System's long term care facility.
The purpose of the course was to provide current knowledge and skills necessary for infection prevention health care providers to function effectively in various health care settings. Objectives of the course were to: understand the components of an infection prevention program; identify common health care associated infections, resistant organisms and problem infections; interpret current regulations and standards; describe methods of infection prevention in a variety of health care settings; and discuss methods of surveillance, figure infection rates and analyze data.
Jeffres has worked in Restorative Care for Valley County Health System since November, 2004.
