Oldaker & Johnson Complete Postural Respiration Course
Obadiah Johnson, DPT and Lindsey Oldaker, DPT, Physical Therapists at Valley County Health System, recently completed a two-day Postural Respiration course. During the course, participants gained appreciation for the postural influences of: rib torsion, asymmetrical oblique strength, inconsistent breathing patterns, habitual use of accessory respiratory musculature and a restricted diaphragm. Participants learned how to integrate treatments using both manual therapy and specific non-manual techniques to restore respiratory and rotational functions of the trunk.
