Rev. Barnes Honored at NE Hospice Banquet
Rev. Greg Barnes, Valley County Health System Hospice's Chaplain, was honored as Ord's outstanding volunteer at the Nebraska Hospice and Palliative Care Partnership's (NHPCP) annual awards banquet on April 19th in Lincoln. The banquet was part of the 2011 conference, "Living a Good Life...at the End of Life." Each Hospice program in the state can nominate an outstanding volunteer to be recognized and honored at the banquet.
Rev. Barnes has been the Hospice Chaplain for Valley County Hospice since November 2007. Rev. Barnes provides spiritual care and support for not only the Hospice patients and their families, but also the Hospice staff. He brings comfort and care to the patients and their families, has helped with the volunteer orientations, and participates at the Hospice Team meetings and the Bereavement Team Support meetings. Besides giving the message at Hospice's annual Memorial Service, he and his wife, Lynn, have helped with the reception following the service which is held in his parish, the Ord Christian Church.
