VCHS hosts annual EMS recertification for area Ambulance Squads

ORD, Neb. – Valley County Health System (VCHS) hosted six local ambulance squads for emergency medical services (EMS) recertification on Sept. 25th led by VCHS Chief of Staff and Emergency Medical Director Hilary Miller, MD.

Nearly 60 members of the Burwell Volunteer Fire Department, Comstock Rescue, Ericson Fire and First Responder, Loup County Ambulance – Taylor, Ord Volunteer Fire Department, and Scotia Rescue Unit were in attendance.

Attendees reviewed skills including AED/CPR administration, glucometer operation, 12 lead EKG training and LUCAS device use at the recertification. Dr. Miller also reviewed EMS runs with each squad. Johanna Spencer gave a presentation on Prehospital stroke. VCHS providers Daniel Schneider, MD, Greg McClanahan, MD, Hilary Miller, MD, Johanna Spencer, APRN, and Hallie Yantzie, APRN, Kelsey Daake, RN, Amy Jackson, RN, as well as Chief Nursing Officer Vicki Bredthauer, RN, and EMS Coordinator Dan Scott, EMT-P, assisted with the recertification.
