Ingram earns Registered Health Information Technician certification

ORD, Neb. – Sara Ingram, Health Information (HIM) Manager at Valley County Health System (VCHS), recently earned her Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certification from the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).

The RHIT certification is for HIM professionals who ensure the quality of medical records by making sure that the records are complete, accurate and coded correctly.  In this “behind-the-scenes” position, Ingram manages the information behind medical decisions, insurance disbursements, and service referrals, ensuring the continuity of care.  Once Ingram completed her Health Information Management degree from Central Community College in May 2018, she was eligible to take the RHIT exam.

“I couldn’t have done this without the support of my family, VCHS and my colleagues,” Ingram said. “I take pride in our HIM department and what we do for VCHS.  I am excited to be able to continue assisting our patients, providers and organization in my role.”

Along with completing her recent RHIT certification, Ingram has also been participating in the NHA Leadership Institute.  She has been attending monthly classes since January 2018 and will graduate at the end of this month.
