Innovative Prosthetics and Orthotics joins VCHS Specialty Clinic

 

ORD, Neb. – Valley County Health System (VCHS) welcomes Rakesh Srivastava, an American Board Certified Prosthetist and Orthotist to the VCHS Specialty Clinic.  Rakesh is the founder and CEO of Innovative Prosthetics and Orthotics in Omaha, Hastings and Grand Island and began seeing patients May 4.  Rakesh will see patients at the VCHS Specialty Clinic the first Friday of every month.

Rakesh, originally from India, received his degree from the National Institute of Rehabilitation Training and Research (NIRTAR). In 1997, he moved to United States, attended the University of Nebraska at Kearney (UNK) for Grad School, completed his residency and soon after became an American Board Certified Prosthetists and Orthotist.  Rakesh also holds a certification for working with Microprocessor knees, Scoliosis Bracing and Cascade DAFO for Pediatrics.

Rakesh is now part of a research team at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) in a program called Cyborg Beast, where they are developing an affordable and innovative prosthetic hand that has been created utilizing 3D printing technology.
