Setlik named VCHS Employee of the Quarter

 

ORD, Neb. – Joy Setlik, RN, has been named the Valley County Health System (VCHS) Employee of the Quarter. Setlik, a registered nurse in Acute Care, was nominated by a coworker for demonstrating the VCHS values of integrity, compassion, ownership, respect and trust. VCHS CEO Nancy Glaubke presented the award to setlik during a reception with coworkers and family on July 26 at VCHS.

Setlik’s nomination read:

“Integrity - Joy cares for her patients and her fellow co-workers in a calm, professional manner.  She is willing to teach a student nurse about emergency drugs by checking the crash cart with them.  She gently guides her patients to be safe and patiently questions them about their medications.

Compassion – Joy personifies compassion.  She is a patient advocate and always has the patient’s best interests in mind.  She comforts, encourages and empathizes with her patients.  She is quick to give a gentle pat on the hand or shoulder.  Her concern is genuine. 

Ownership – Joy is willing to confront and follow-up on issues.  She completes orders, checks on her patients and encourages other nurses working with her to do the same.  She is an excellent charge nurse. Joy is organized and professional.  She always does the right thing.

Respect – Joys treats others in a respectful manner.  Her happy, energetic way makes others feel comfortable.  She brings out the best in others.

Trust – Joy is current in her knowledge and skills.  She speaks the truth.  She is reliable.  Her name is appropriate!  We always know it is going to be a good day when Joy is working.”

With this recognition, Setlik will also be considered for the VCHS Employee of the Year award for fiscal year 2017-2018.
