Annual VCHS Women’s Night Hosts Hundreds, Raises Record Funds for Local Nonprofits
ORD, Neb. – Valley County Health System (VCHS) hosted approximately 300 women and raised a record $2,235 for the VCHS Auxiliary and VCHS Child Development Committee at its annual women’s health event on Oct. 10. The free evening event – Celebrate Being a Woman – was held at the Trotter Event Center in Ord and featured vendors, raffles, dinner and a healthcare provider Q&A panel presentation.
“The annual VCHS Celebrate Being a Woman event gives ladies of all ages an opportunity to gather for an enjoyable and informative evening, all while giving back to our local community,” VCHS Public Relations and Marketing Manager Beth Knapinski said. “This year’s event, once again, exceeded expectations, and we thank the attendees for their generosity and for sharing a fun evening with us.”
The two benefitting organizations – the VCHS Auxiliary and VCHS Child Development Committee – will each be presented a check for $1,117.50 at their next group meetings to help advance their causes – local healthcare and youth development, respectively. VCHS departments and employees donated raffle baskets, and the money was raised through raffle basket ticket purchases.
The event’s healthcare provider Q&A panel presentation included VCHS’s Jennifer Bengston, MD, and Hilary Miller, MD; OB/GYN Tyler Adam, MD; Radiologist Kim Coleman, MD; and Riley Smith, PLCSW, PLMHP, who answered questions on topics including skin care, breast health and depression.
More than two dozen vendors also participated in the event, ranging from local health and wellness professionals to financial institutions to in-home businesses.
Roy’s Place/Elyria Gardens catered a soup and salad dinner, and the VCHS Dietary Department created a dessert bar complete with mini cupcakes, mints, crème puffs, and chocolate-covered strawberries.
