VCHS Child Development Committee Revamps Logo, Mission to Reflect Expanded Efforts

ORD, Neb. – The Valley County Health System (VCHS) Child Development Committee recently revamped its logo and mission statement to better reflect its expanding work and future goals.

The updated mission statement reads, “The mission of the Valley County Health System Child Development Committee is to make a positive difference in the lives of children in Valley County.” To complement its updated mission statement, the committee partnered with the Ord Quiz to design a new logo, which includes the committee’s name, the words “educate. develop. grow.” and creative imagery.

“For nearly 20 years, the VCHS Child Development Committee has promoted the healthy growth and development of children in Valley County through providing resources, offering support and hosting events for local families,” Jeanette Koelling, Ord Public School kindergarten teacher and committee member, said. “During that time, we have focused on a variety of initiatives, expanded events and sought different opportunities to meet the needs and interests of area families. Our new logo and mission statement will help us continue to focus our efforts as we advance the healthy growth and development of local children for years to come.”

VCHS Child Development Committee activities include providing free baby bags with educational materials, books and developmental toys to all new moms and babies in Valley County; organizing events such as the annual Kid’s Fair, Family Literacy Night, Ord North Pole Express and Family Entertainment Night; and encouraging story time at the Ord Township Library. The committee also regularly publishes educational columns in local newspapers. All projects and community activities are offered for free, or at a minimal charge, to all families in Valley County.

Committee members include Becky Acosta, Shannon Adams-Webber, Emily Bauer, Jen Beran, Sheri Blaha, Lori Burkholder, Jodi Geiser, Kristi Hagstrom, Ann Heil, Marilyn Hespe, Carol Keyser, Beth Knapinski, Jeanette Koelling, Jackie McClanahan, Bri Moudry, Becky Ries, Bridget Sheets, Michelle Weber and Betty Wheeler.

“Our committee is made up of volunteers – local educators, professionals and parents – who are enthusiastic about youth development and passionate about creating family-friendly opportunities here,” Koelling said. “Their involvement and support, along with the continued support of the community, have been key to our committee’s longevity and success. As we look to the future, we welcome feedback and ideas from parents, families and the community about how to best meet their needs and promote child development in Valley County.”

Upcoming VCHS Child Development Committee events include:
March 17 and 18 – Big Give to Valley County (participating organization)
March 20 –Mighty Magic Pants Family Concert
April 1 – Kids Fair
