VCHS Foundation donates $52,800 for new equipment

ORD, Neb. – Valley County Health System (VCHS) is pleased to announce that they have received generous donations from the VCHS Foundation; $25,000 from the Gala’s Make It Happen auction was presented for the purchase of a new Hamilton-C2 ventilator, and an additional $27,800 was also presented to go toward a Mobilett Mira Max portable x-ray machine.

The Foundation announced in their 2018 annual appeal (Nov 2018) that they would be focusing on raising funds for a new ventilator.  At the annual gala in January 2019, $25,000 was given by generous donors for this machine.  “The new Hamilton-C2 can assist with initiating breaths for a patient and can serve as a ventilator to provide complete respiratory support for a patient who is unable to breathe on their own,” says Chief Nursing Officer Vicki Bredthauer, RN.  “When every minute counts, state-of-the-art equipment like this is vital and we are grateful for generous donations.”

The $27,800 from the Foundation included personal donations, as well as endowment payouts, of which $7,347 was from the Geweke Endowment Fund and will be designated toward a new portable x-ray machine.  “The new portable x-ray machine will replace our current model that is 9 years old,” says Imaging Manager Sue Diehl, CNMT.  “It is cordless and lightweight, making it very easy to move about and will benefit patients that we are unable to transfer to the x-ray room.”  The total cost of the new portable x-ray is $180,000 and the Foundation asks that all Big Give donations in March be considered toward this larger piece of equipment.

The contributions totaled $52,800.  “We are surrounded by such generous community members,” says Becky Ries, VCHS Foundation Director.  “This would not have been possible without the wonderful donors of Valley County and surrounding areas giving so generously.”

The Foundation and VCHS would like to extend their gratitude to everyone that helped make this possible.  “VCHS is overwhelmed by the generosity,” says Nancy Glaubke, CEO.  “What you helped us accomplish is outstanding and speaks volumes for the support of our community.”
