VCHS Hosts Recertification for Six Area Ambulance Squads

ORD, Neb. – Valley County Health System (VCHS) hosted six local ambulance squads for emergency medical services (EMS) recertification on Feb.1 at the Ord Area Fire Hall.

Members of the Burwell Volunteer Fire Department, Comstock Rescue, Ericson Fire and First Responder, Loup County Ambulance – Taylor, Ord Volunteer Fire Department and Valley County Ambulance Service were in attendance. VCHS Family Medicine Physician Hilary Miller, MD, serves as emergency medical director for the represented squads.

Attendees received trauma education and reviewed skills, including AED/CPR administration, glucose reading and LUCAS device use, at the recertification. VCHS physicians Daniel Schneider, MD, Greg McClanahan, MD, and Jennifer Bengston, MD, as well as Chief Nursing Officer Vicki Bredthauer and Emergency Services Manager Jennifer Sandoz, assisted Dr. Miller with conducting the recertification.

“Continuing education and regular recertification helps ensure our local EMTs and first responders are prepared to respond to the variety of situations and conditions they may encounter in the field,” Sandoz said. “These individuals and squads are an extension and partner of the emergency services provided at VCHS, so our organization is proud to support them through recertification and continuing education.”
