VCHS Board of Trustees, Organization Earn NHA Education Certification

ORD, Neb. – Members of the Valley County Health System (VCHS) Board of Trustees recently earned individual education certification through the Nebraska Hospital Association (NHA) Research and Education Foundation Hospital Trustee Community Accountability Education Certification Program.

All VCHS board trustees – Gary Garnick, chair; Carl Streeter, vice chair; Michelle Zangger, secretary; Roger Lansman, treasurer; Nathan Flessner; Chuck Blaha, DDS; and Morley Koll – as well as VCHS CEO Nancy Glaubke, earned the certification.

Tailored to hospital trustees, this voluntary program aims to strengthen trustee leadership and accountability. Trustees must complete a set number of NHA-approved coursework hours to receive certification. Those who complete the program demonstrate a commitment to improving performance of the hospital’s board, show a commitment to ongoing governance education and illustrate to served communities their high level of commitment to their board service.

VCHS was also recertified as an NHA Board-Certified Hospital through this program - a designation the organization has held since 2013. In addition to each board member meeting the NHA trustee education certification requirements, VCHS earned this designation through demonstrating a commitment to care management, giving examples of community accountability, transparency, and benefit/outreach programs, integrating local health efforts with hospital resources and including quality and safety reports at each regular board meeting.
