Early-Stage Alzheimer's Support Group

For individuals diagnosed with Alzheimer's and their caregivers, education and support are critical elements in helping them plan for the future and lead healthy, fulfilling lives as the disease progresses. The Heritage Program at VCHS partners with the Alzheimer's Association to facilitate a free Alzheimer's Early-Stage Support Group in Ord to educate, empower, and support diagnosed individuals and their caregivers.

The next eight-week support group session runs from June 12 - August 7, 2017. The group will meet every Tuesday from 5:30-6:45 p.m. at the VCHS Hospital, Ord. Meetings are conducted in a confidential, private setting.

The first half of each meeting will focus on education and include both the diagnosed individual and their caregiver(s). During the second half of the meeting, the diagnosed individuals will meet as a group, as their caregivers meet as a separate group; this part of the meeting focuses on emotional support to help individuals cope with the lifestyle changes that accompany a diagnosis.

Registration is required. For more information or to register, call 308.728.4340.
