Annual VCHS women’s night hosts hundreds, raises funds for local nonprofits

Valley County Health System (VCHS) hosted approximately 300 women and raised $3,050 for the VCHS Child Development Committee and Sandhills Strong at its annual women’s health event on Oct. 17. The free evening event – Celebrate Being a Woman – was held at the Trotter Event Center in Ord and featured vendors, raffles, dinner, door prizes and a healthcare behavioral health panel presentation.

“The annual VCHS Celebrate Being a Woman event is an opportunity for women of all ages to gather and enjoy a relaxing and informative evening, all while giving back to our local communities,” VCHS Public Relations and Marketing Manager Megan Johnson said. “This year’s event exceeded expectations, all thanks to the volunteers, vendors and attendees.  We thank everyone for their generosity and for sharing a fun evening with us.”

The two benefiting organizations – the VCHS Child Development Committee and Sandhills Strong – will each be presented a check for $1,525 at their next group meetings to help advance their causes – local healthcare and families. VCHS departments, employees, and local businesses donated raffle baskets, and the money was raised through raffle basket ticket purchases.

The event’s healthcare provider Q&A panel presentation included VCHS’s Joey Cadek, PLCSW, CDP and Kyla Conway, LIMHP, who answered questions on topics including mental health and the various resources available.

Twenty vendors also participated in the event, ranging from local health and wellness professionals to community shops to in-home businesses.

Jubilee Events & Catering served a delicious meal and the VCHS Dietary Department prepared decadent cupcakes for dessert.
