Jennifer Bengston, MD, named VCHS Chief of Staff

Jennifer Bengston, MD, has been named the Valley County Health System (VCHS) Chief of Staff.

In her one-year term as Chief of Staff, Bengston acts as the liaison and adviser between VCHS administration and medical staff, as well as oversees physician credentialing, education and quality assurance. VCHS currently has an eight-person medical staff, with three MDs and five advanced practitioners.  Hilary Miller, MD and Greg McClanahan, MD were voted Vice President, Secretary and Past-president, respectively, of medical staff for the upcoming year. Bob Reilly, PA-C, Johanna Spencer, APRN-NP, FNP-BC, Hallie Yantzie, APRN-NP, Jane Meyer, APRN-NP, and Darian Nordhues, APRN-NP are the five advanced practitioners on the VCHS medical staff. 

Bengston joined VCHS in 2003. She provides primary care services to patients at the VCHS Medical Clinic in Ord as well as to hospital inpatients and emergency room patients as needed. In 2007, Dr. Bengston was named Nebraska Rural Health Association's Outstanding Rural Health Professional. She earned her bachelor's degree in chemistry from Wayne State in 1997 and her doctorate of medicine from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha in 2000. She completed her residency through the Lincoln Medical Education Partnership.

Dr. Bengston holds certifications of the Diplomat of the American Board of Family Medicine, Advanced Trauma Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, and Neonatal Resuscitation Program.

An Albion, Nebraska native, Dr. Bengston resides in Ord with her husband, Brent and daughters, Madeline and Elisabeth.
