McClanahan, MD, Named VCHS Chief of Staff

In his one-year term as Chief of Staff, Dr. McClanahan acts as the liaison and adviser between VCHS administration and medical staff, as well as oversees physician credentialing, education and quality assurance. VCHS currently has a ten-person medical staff, with five MDs and five advanced practitioners. Nathan Harms, MD, was voted Vice President and Jennifer Bengston, MD, was voted Secretary of the medical staff for the upcoming year. Other members of the VCHS medical staff include Caty Ward, MD; Hilary Miller, MD; Sarah Smyth, PA-C; Brooke Becker, PA-C; Johanna Vollertsen, APRN-NP, FNP-BC; Hallie Yantzie, APRN-NP; and Tessa Welniak, APRN-NP.

 

Dr. McClanahan joined VCHS in 2016. He provides primary care services to patients at the VCHS Medical Clinic in Ord and Sargent, as well as to hospital inpatients and emergency room patients as needed. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska at Kearney and his Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Dr. McClanahan also completed the UNMC Rural Training Track in Grand Island.

 

A native of Atkinson, Neb., Dr. McClanahan and his wife, Jackie, reside in Ord with their four children, Matthew, Grace, Olivia and Emma
