Morse, RN, Named VCHS Employee of the Year

ORD, Neb. – Kate Morse, RN, has been named the Valley County Health System (VCHS) Employee of the Year for the 2016-2017 fiscal year. Morse, who leads the VCHS Infection Control/Employee Education Department, received the recognition because of her commitment to exemplifying the VCHS values of integrity, compassion, ownership, respect and trust and for going above and beyond in her work.

VCHS CEO Nancy Glaubke presented the award to Morse at a ceremony at VCHS with coworkers, family and friends in attendance. Morse was one of four VCHS Employee of the Quarter recipients during the last year, from which the VCHS Employee of the Year was voted on by VCHS employees and, ultimately, chosen. In addition to receiving gift cards, ChamberBucks and a framed certificate, Morse will represent VCHS at the Nebraska Hospital Association Caring Kind Awards Luncheon in La Vista, Neb., in October.

Morse's nomination read:

"Kate has a heart of gold.  She is a wonderful example of the fantastic employees we have here at VCHS.

Integrity - Kate shows integrity in everything she does. She has a passion for infection control and is an advocate for the safety of our employees, patients and patients’ families. You will always see Kate doing the right thing.  She is willing to help out any department whether it would be infection control, OR, or helping HR with employee new hire screens and work comp.

Compassion - Kate is very compassionate about what she does and she believes in quality healthcare. If you have ever listened to her talk about her job, you know that she loves what she does and wants to keep everyone she is in contact with healthy!

Ownership - Kate shows ownership in her work. Kate is always working hard to better VCHS with her knowledge and help our facility stay healthy and germ free. Every month she sends out a hand hygiene joke, poem, or song to the monitors, to let us know how important hand hygiene is. Kate is always taking the extra steps to help our facility be the best that it can be.

Respect - Respect is no challenge for Kate. Kate is much respected amongst coworkers and shows the utmost respect to her coworkers and patients in return.

Trust - Kate is very trustworthy. You never see Kate only giving 50 percent; she is always giving 110 percent. You can count on Kate to be here rain, snow, or shine! You can always trust in Kate to get the job done and done well!”

Other VCHS Employee of the Quarter award recipients for the last year included VCHS Clinic Biller/Coder Kryssiah Felton, Home Health Aide Carol Philbrick and Social Worker Stephanie Keefe.
