Valley County Health System Foundation donates $150,000 for new CT Scanner

The Valley County Health System Foundation (VCHSF) ran a campaign from November 2019-July 2020, to raise funds to help Valley County Health System (VCHS) with the purchase of a new 64-Slice CT Scanner. The total cost of a new scanner is $450,000. The scanner will allow the VCHS imaging department to offer better image detail, faster exam times, new services and reduce the radiation dose by one third.

VCHSF was pleased to present VCHS with $150,000 toward the CT purchase. Personal donations, as well as funds the VCHSF board designated from the gala and golf tournament, accounted for $77,950 of this donation. The additional $72,050 represents payouts from the VCHSF Endowment Funds. Of that amount, $15,550 came from the late Lloyd and Naomi Geweke Endowment Fund. The Geweke’s fund alone has paid out $41,500 in support to VCHS since established through the Nebraska Community Foundation in 2013.

When Naomi and Lloyd originally made their endowment gift, they were asked why they chose to give back this way and replied with a modest understatement. “All of the people in this community have been so helpful throughout our lives,” Naomi said.

Although Lloyd and Naomi are no longer with us, their generous spirit will live on through gifts such as this because endowments are a way that donors can give back for generations to come.

“Valley County Health System is extremely grateful for these generous contributions made by the Foundation,” VCHS CEO Nancy Glaubke, says. “This new 64-Slice CT Scanner will enable VCHS to continue fulfilling its mission to provide progressive healthcare services in a healing patient-centered environment.”

The Foundation’s mission is to seek, receive and administer donations and gifts for the sole benefit of Valley County Health System. Our number one priority is enhancing and sustaining high-quality healthcare in Central Nebraska.

“The Foundation is grateful for the generous support of our community. Giving back to ensure quality healthcare is truly one of the most amazing ways you can choose to make an impact. Not only are you, our donors, able to play a part in helping others, but you also are supporting the future of this region. Quality healthcare is vital to the health of our region on so many levels, and your gifts make a difference. Thank you to everyone who supports our mission,” VCHSF Executive Director Becky Ries, said.

Through your donations we are able to fulfill our mission and make an impact on healthcare in our region.
