VCHS Home Health deficiency free, scores above average in recent surveys
ORD, Neb. – Valley County Health System (VCHS) Home Health and Hospice was deficiency free in their recent state survey and received scores above the national average from the Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS).
“The deficiency free survey and above average patient satisfaction scores that home health and hospice received are true examples of how VCHS is living its mission and vision,” VCHS CEO Nancy Glaubke said. “The scores they received for both “Overall Rating of Home Health Care” and “Patient Willingness to Recommend the Agency” were above ratings of other Nebraska agencies our size. We commend our staff for exceeding both Nebraska and national averages.”
The data was from more than 150 patients who received VCHS Home Health services between July 1, 2016, and June 30, 2017, and completed the Home Health CAHPS survey. The CAHPS is a series of patient surveys rating health care experiences in the United States.
“Our home health staff includes nurses, therapists, a social worker and aides that strive to provide the highest quality of patient-centered care,” VCHS Director of Home Health and Hospice Carol Schroeder said. “They display true compassion for their patients and families.”
In addition to the overall rating and recommendation questions, the survey included the following measures:
- How often the home health team gave care in a professional way;
- How well did the home health team communicate with patients; and
- Did the home health team discuss medicines, pain, and home safety with patients.
Home health offers a less expensive alternative to hospitalization or long-term care for patients needing occasional intermittent healthcare, including nursing; physical, occupational and speech therapies; and social work. VCHS provides home health services to people across 11 central Nebraska counties.
