VCHS Hospice deficiency free in recent survey
ORD, Neb. – Valley County Health System (VCHS) Hospice was deficiency free in their recent state survey completed by the State of Nebraska’s Health & Human Services Division of Public Health, Licensure Unit.
“The deficiency free survey hospice received is a true statement of the VCHS mission and vision,” VCHS CEO Nancy Glaubke said. “We commend our Hospice staff and volunteers for the compassion and dedication they give to our patients and their families.”
The survey process is a comprehensive assessment of hospice agencies to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations and quality patient care. It is one of the top indications of excellence for an agency.
The surveys are unannounced and conducted for approximately a week. A thorough review of core criteria including quality care, safety, administration, documentation and patient rights is conducted. The surveyor makes home visits with nursing, therapy and aide staff, observes and evaluates all aspects of care, procedures and practices, and assesses agency compliance with state and federal standards. The survey determined VCHS Hospice was 100 percent in compliance.

As national and state health regulations become more and more stringent, it is becoming increasingly more difficult to achieve a deficiency-free rating. These surveys assure area residents that they have quality health care options close to home.
The Agency received a deficiency-free State survey earlier this year for its Home Health services as well. "We are proud to add this distinction to our tradition of excellence in both Home Health and Hospice," said Donna Streeter, VCHS Home Health & Hospice Department Manager. "We remain continually committed to quality patient care, not only in Ord but in all the communities we serve.
