VCHS hosts 10th annual health fair

ORD, Neb. – Valley County Health System (VCHS) hosted its 10th annual health fair on June 26. Hosted at the VCHS Hospital in Ord, the free morning fair included discounted lab tests, vendors, displays, breakfast and giveaways.

“Each year we aim to provide something new and beneficial at our annual health fair and 2018 was no different,” VCHS PR/Marketing Manager Marcy Shafer said. “Members of our community and surrounding areas rely on this event each year so we make sure we are providing a variety of services and information to meet their needs.”

Some of the displays included a seat belt survivor vehicle from the Nebraska State Patrol, healthy smoothies from Roy’s Place, yoga demonstrations and chair massages provided by Utopia Spa and Health Studio, a hand washing station with VCHS Infection Control and blood pressure checks provided by VCHS Acute Care. Lab tests included a health screen, A1C, PSA and Protime test, and Bryan Health’s mobile testing unit offered four heart-related screenings.

“The VCHS health fair has proven to be one of the most beneficial services we can offer to the community,” Shafer said. “The event continues to get better each year and we owe that to the generous support of both the vendors and participants from the area.”
