VCHS Hosts KHOP Students

Valley County Health System (VCHS) recently hosted 46 visiting students from the Kearney Healthcare Opportunity Program (KHOP). KHOP is a joint program between the University of Nebraska Kearney and the Nebraska Medical Center. The objective of this program is to recruit rural Nebraska residents who are committed to returning to rural Nebraska to practice healthcare.

These students are pursuing careers in healthcare such as a Lab Tech, Physician, Pharmacist, Physical Therapy, Radiology Tech, Physician Assistant and Nursing. VCHS Providers and medical professionals participated in a panel discussion where students were able to ask questions relating to their career field and rural healthcare. Students then broke off into groups and were given a tour of the Hospital and a detailed look at their career specific departments.

“VCHS takes pride in providing advanced technology and services in a modern yet comfortable environment,” says Nancy Glaubke, CEO. “It was an honor to share what that looks like in a rural setting to students who will be working in a place just like this someday soon.”
