VCHS to host annual health fair on June 11
ORD, Neb. – Valley County Health System (VCHS) will host its annual health fair – “Rev Up For Wellness” – from 6 – 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 11, at the hospital in Ord. The free health fair will feature discounted labs, wellness screenings, vendor displays, free breakfast, and more!
One of the biggest attractions of the VCHS Health Fair continues to be the discounted lab tests, charging attendees only the cost to cover supplies. The following discounted labs are offered during the health fair:
Health Screen: ($35) Comprehensive Metabolic Panel, Complete Blood Count, TSH, Lipid Panel – Cholesterol, Triglycerides, HDL and LDL
PSA: ($15) Prostate cancer screening recommended for males over the age of 50.
A1C: ($20) Test that measures your average blood sugar for the past two to three months.
Protime: ($10) Test for patients on Warfarin.
Pre-registration for lab work is recommended and may be completed online here, by picking up a pre-registration form at the hospital registration desk or any VCHS Medical Clinic location, or by contacting VCHS PR/Marketing at 308-728-4356.
The VCHS Imaging Department will also offer the following screenings:
Forearm DXA Scan: ($30) A quick bone density screening that helps assess bone strength and risk for osteoporosis.
Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) Ultrasound Screening: ($40)This painless, non-invasive screening detects the presence of an aneurysm in the abdominal aorta (4 hr. fast required).
Ankle-Brachial Index (ABI) Screen: ($30) A painless, non-invasive test called ankle-brachial index (ABI) compares the blood pressure in the ankles to the blood pressure in the arms to determine how well blood is flowing.
Carotid Artery Ultrasound Screening: ($40) This painless, non-invasive screening detects plaque deposits in the carotid arteries. These plaque deposits are a leading risk factor for stroke.
Imaging screenings require scheduled appointments and are limited. To schedule an imaging screening, participants must call the VCHS Imaging Department directly at 308-728-4278. These exams are for screening purposes only. A full diagnostic exam is not being completed, a Radiologist is not reading any of the images, and images will not be kept as part of the patient record. To have a full diagnostic exam, patients must follow up with their regular healthcare provider to have one ordered.
Those who participate in the blood chemistry draw will receive their results by mail and will be responsible for contacting their medical provider if they have values outside of the normal range. Fasting is required prior to the blood chemistry draw, including refraining from caffeine and decaffeinated coffee. Breakfast will be served at the fair following the blood draw.
