What to do if you have Respiratory symptoms

Valley County Health System urges residents who suspect they may have Coronavirus (COVID-19) symptoms to call first before visiting their local health facility.

If you are experiencing these respiratory symptoms:

  • Cough
  • Fever
  • Shortness of breath
  • Sore Throat

And are 65 years or older, have compromised immune systems or serious medical conditions such as:

  • Heart disease
  • Diabetes
  • Chronic Kidney disease
  • Lung disease

Please call 402.728.4200 prior to coming to the Medical Clinic or ER. Our healthcare providers will evaluate your symptoms and explain your best course of action. Calling ahead not only helps you, it prevents the spread and protects our community’s elderly and most vulnerable.

If you are younger than 65 and have symptoms of the Coronavirus and are otherwise healthy the current advice is to stay at home and self-isolate. Rest, drink plenty of fluids and take fever reducing medications such as ibuprofen or acetaminophen. For more information on isolation and when to seek medical attention visit the CDC website at https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/if-you-are-sick/steps-when-sick.html#warning-signs.
